Nelly Korda Dog Bite Update: How Long Will She Have to Stay Out of Golfing? Course of Treatment Explored
Not even the world’s best golfer is safe from the woes of destiny. Suffering from the wrath of a dog bite from her time in Seattle, Nelly Korda recently announced her absence from the Ladies European Tour’s Aramco Team Series Presented by PIF in London, casting another blot on her fast downgrading 2024 career peak. But how long will this hiatus last?
Well, because Korda is a proud pet owner, mother to an adorable cat named Rafi, and aunt to her sister’s mini golden doodle, Charlie DelPrete, it’s possible the wait might not be as long. The LPGA Tour star may have been previously vaccinated against rabies. In cases as such, post-exposure, one typically needs only two doses of vaccination. One is administered on Day 0 and the other on Day 7. It’s unlikely that Korda wouldn’t be vaccinated, given her almost regular interaction with her furry friend. But if she isn’t, she will have to procure 4 doses of the vaccine.
The healing time would then depend on the severity of the wound. If it was a minor wound that Korda endured, it may take her a week to 10 days to heal. However, considering her drop from the LET event in light of her proper recovery, it’s possible her case was slightly more severe. She might take two to three weeks for a full recovery. However, if the wound is deep and/or infected, it might take up to a month or even longer!

Nelly Korda would also have to be on the lookout for signs of infections during the healing process. In cases of infection, ordinarily, oral or intravenous antibiotics are prescribed by a medical professional. She might also need to have a tetanus shot if her shot is not up to date. Symptoms like pain, redness, swelling, or fever, are a few things the LPGA Tour starlet will have to beware of, in her healing journey.
So will Korda be able to participate in the upcoming major championships?
Will Nelly Korda’s health prevent her from partaking in the two remaining majors of the season?
Considering a possible recovery time of 14 to 21 days for Nelly Korda’s full recovery, her participation in the upcoming Amundi Evian Championship from July 11th to July 14th seems to be in the hazy territory. While it’s almost two weeks apart from her initial injury, she might resort to rest for a bit longer to come back stronger and reclaim her throne.
The AIG Women’s Open will be the final major on the LPGA Tour calendar. It is scheduled from August 22nd to August 25th, and if all bodes well, Korda’s current injuries are unlikely to impede her presence from the season’s last major.
