Everything we know about Princess Anne’s injury after being ‘kicked in the head by horse’
Princess Anne has been admitted to hospital after she suffered minor injuries and concussion while out walking on her Gloucestershire estate, Buckingham Palace has said.
The Princess Royal, 73, remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, “as a precautionary measure for observation” but is expected to make a full and swift recovery.
Buckingham Palace said in a statement: “The Princess Royal has sustained minor injuries and concussion following an incident on the Gatcombe Park estate yesterday evening.
“Her Royal Highness remains in Southmead Hospital, Bristol, as a precautionary measure for observation and is expected to make a full and swift recovery.
“The King has been kept closely informed and joins the whole royal family in sending his fondest love and well-wishes to the princess for a speedy recovery.”
What happened to Princess Anne?
Princess Anne was understood to be walking on her Gatcombe Park Estate when the injury happened. The exact circumstances have not been confirmed, but her medical team believe it is consistent with a potential impact from a horse’s head or legs.
The Daily Express understands that due to her concussion, the precise details cannot be ascertained.
It is not known whether she was on her own at the time, but her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence accompanied her to the hospital.
Emergency services were despatched to the estate and, the princess received medical care at the scene. She was transferred to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for tests, treatment and observation.
An air ambulance was despatched to the scene but it was not needed.
Anne’s children, Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips, were also on the estate at the time but it is not known who raised the alarm.
