Princess Beatrice is no longer dreading the release of ‘A Very Royal Scandal’
EXCLUSIVE: Following Princess Beatrice’s initial “worries” about Netflix’s ‘Scoop’ production, the Princess of York is now less concerned about an upcoming production.
Princess Beatrice is set to be played in an upcoming TV drama titled ‘A Very Royal Scandal’ based on the Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein scandal, a portrayal which she is not thought to be dreading, Express.co.uk can reveal.
The TV drama follows the release of the Netflix drama ‘Scoop’ which depicted the Princess of York taking part in a meeting with the BBC Newsnight team with a notebook and pen and contributing to discussions leading up to Prince Andrew’s interview with the team.
The upcoming Amazon MGM Studios series is based on Emily Maitlis’ perspective in securing an interview with Prince Andrew to discuss the Jeffrey Epstein debacle.
A source tells Express.co.uk that Princess Beatrice, 35, was initially dreading the release of the Emily Maitlis produced Amazon series, but following the reaction to Netflix’s Scoop she’s now thought to be less concerned.
A source tells Express.co.uk: “Beatrice was originally dreading the release of ‘A Very Royal Scandal’ because she feared the backlash it would receive.
“Since she’s seen how Scoop was produced and realised that it didn’t reflect badly on her, she’s less concerned for the next one later this year.”
The character of Beatrice played an unexpectedly key role in ‘Scoop’, which was released on April 5, helping her father decide whether to do the interview. Actor Billie Piper played Newsnight ‘booker extraordinaire’ Sam McAlister, and Gillian Anderson starred as Emily Maitlis.
The drama, which has been highly publicised and featured a star-studded cast, focuses on the Duke of York’s excruciating sitdown interview in 2019, where he was quizzed by broadcaster Emily Maitlis about his friendship with late billionaire convicted paedophile, Jeffrey Epstein.
Prince Andrew & the Epstein Scandal’ was aired on Newsnight on the BBC in November 2019, and also questioned the Prince’s relationship with Virginia Roberts Giuffre who alleged he sexually assaulted her.
