Andy Murray’s Mother Drops an ‘Astonishing’ Reaction to Emma Raducanu Throwing Her Son Under the Bus at Wimbledon

Is Andy Murray’s Wimbledon farewell run over? Just a few hours before the mixed doubles match, Emma Raducanu pulled out of the event, leaving everyone shocked with this news. However, when this news was shared on social media, the Brit’s mother reacted to the news, apparently bewildered at the WTA player for throwing her son under the bus.

In what was expected to be Andy Murray’s final Wimbledon season before retirement, Raducanu and Murray were paired together. Murray had already pulled out of singles and lost doubles with his brother. then unfortunately, Raducanu’s right wrist stiffness has forced Raducanu to withdraw from the event. This surprising turn of events has changed the highly anticipated combination and significantly impacted Murray’s farewell tour at the esteemed tournament.

Marcus Buckland, a sports presenter, was among the first to break this news. He wrote, “Astonishing news that Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from her mixed doubles match with Andy Murray. She’s citing soreness in her right wrist. It means Murray has played his last match at Wimbledon. Oh dear!”

After reading this, Murray’s mother dropped a comment and wrote a rather sarcastic, “Yes, astonishing.” It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Judy Murray was not happy with the WTA tennis player’s decision just a few moments before the match.

According to tournament regulations, Murray, who lost to his brother Jamie in the men’s doubles earlier this week, is not allowed to choose a replacement in the mixed doubles.

For the fourth round on Court One, the 37-year-old Scot and the 21-year-old Raducanu were supposed to play Zhang Shuai and Marcelo Arevalo. A statement from the 21-year-old read, “Unfortunately I woke up with some stiffness in my right wrist this morning, so therefore I have decided to make the very tough decision to withdraw from the mixed doubles.” However, after playing doubles with his brother, he poured his heart out sharing the thought of leaving the sport behind.

Andy Murray wants to play tennis ‘forever’
In his final Wimbledon match, Murray got off to a poor start and broke down in front of his adoring supporters before acknowledging that he had never wanted to give up. In the opening round of the men’s doubles competition, Australians Rinky Hijikata and John Peers upset Murray, the two-time Wimbledon singles winner, and his brother Jamie.
