The Prince and Princess of Wales have interrupted the last days of their summer holiday to send a rare personal message.
The couple spent the past weekend at Balmoral on their annual trip with the rest of the Royal Family and are enjoying their last few days together before Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis head back to school next week. However, today they took the time to take to their official social media accounts this morning to wish Team GB’s Paralympics team the best of luck as the Paralympic Games kicks off in Paris this evening with the opening ceremony.
The couple quote tweeted a post on X by Paralympics GB, the official team of all Great Britain and Northern Ireland athletes competing in the Games, which read: “It’s today #Paralympics”. And in response, William and Kate said: “Looking forward to another few weeks of incredible sport! Wishing the very best of luck to our @ParalympicsGB athletes and all those competing at #Paris2024.”
The post was signed off by W&C, which denotes it is a personal message from both William and Kate. The couple were at the Paralympics opening ceremony in London in 2012. The Prince and Princess of Wales are huge sports fans and although they didn’t travel to the Paris Olympics earlier this month, they released a video congratulating Team GB competitors.
The clip saw rapper Snoop Dogg start and finish the video from the Prince and Princess of Wales, which also included messages from other celebrities including David Beckham. The rapper started the video by saying “greetings loved ones” and ended it with the words “thank you Great Britain, on behalf of big Snoop Dogg, the prince and his lovely wife”.
However, when he was spotted driving his family to Crathie Kirk on Sunday during their stay at Balmoral, he devastated some fans by reverting to being clean-shaven. His appearance alongside Kate marked the first time she had been seen in public since she presented the Wimbledon men’s singles trophy last month.
The princess announced in March that she was undergoing treatment for cancer. She made her first public appearance after announcing her diagnosis at the Trooping the Colour ceremony in London in June and gave Carlos Alcaraz his championship trophy at Wimbledon in July. According to a body language expert, Kate showed three key but subtle signs that indicated how she was feeling. Judi James said the princess was “chatty and animated” on being seen being driven to church.
