Royal Family LIVE: Ex-bodyguard opens up on Meghan Markle’s fears during time as royal
An ex-bodyguard who worked closely with Meghan Markle during her time as a senior working royal has revealed the worries she faced while conducting her work.
Steve Davies, who worked with Meghan Markle when she first joined the Royal Family, spoke to Touch Magazine, and said he “felt sorry for her” when she joined the Firm.
He explained: “She was paranoid. We had people following us around everywhere we went.”
The ex-bodyguard has also hit out at claims the Duchess “bullied” her staff – allegations rejected by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex – and said Meghan came across as a fundamentally “good person” who loved “working with charities to working with dog walkers and cleaners”.
It comes as the Duchess of Sussex was labelled a “dictator in high heels” in a piece for the US publication Hollywood Reporter, in the latest row of allegations against her regarding her attitude and behaviour towards staff.
Meghan Markle has since spoken about bullying and addressed being one of the most bullied people in the world while meeting teens in California. Meghan visited Girls Inc of Greater Santa Barbara on October 2 for a solo engagement as they launched a new digital wellness programme.
