Prince William’s telling four-word reaction to Harry’s news Meghan was pregnant
Prince William had just a few words to say upon learning that Meghan Markle was pregnant with her and Prince Harry’s first child.
The royal couple were ecstatic when they found out about the pregnancy in 2018, and decided to share the wonderful news with the Royal Family – from whom they are now estranged – at Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank in October of that year.
In his memoir, ‘Spare’, Prince Harry detailed the moment he told his brother during the reception at St George’s Hall in Windsor. He wrote: “We were in a big room, suits of armour on the walls. Strange room, strange moment.”
Harry also recalled Prince William’s reaction to the announcement, noting he simply smiled and said: “We must tell Kate.”
Additionally, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex informed King Charles of their impending parenthood at the same event.
Prince Harry shared in his book that his father was thrilled by the news, writing: “Just before a drink reception for the bride and groom, we cornered Pa in his study. He was delighted to learn that he was going to be a grandfather for a fourth time; his wide smile warmed me.”
The Sussexes have since welcomed a second child, Princess Lilibet, born at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California on June 4, 2021.
In his memoir, Harry also recounted his experience of the birth of his first child, revealing he was extremely anxious beforehand. To calm his nerves, Harry decided to try the laughing gas intended for his wife.
