Prince Harry ‘furious’ with King Charles after he refused son’s Meghan Markle demand
The relationship between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and the Royal Family was strained long before they decided to step down.
The Duke of Sussex was reportedly “infuriated” with his father, King Charles, after the monarch allegedly stated that he could not afford to support Meghan Markle financially in the future. Royal author Robert Jobson made the bombshell claims in his book Our King: Charles III – The Man and the Monarch.
In an interview, Harry recounted the moment he planned to propose to Meghan. Harry claimed that when he was ready to propose to the former Suits actress, he eagerly shared his plans with Charles and his brother Prince William.
Shortly after their conversation, it was alleged that Charles informed Harry that he could not provide financial support for Meghan. The monarch reportedly explained that funds were already allocated to Queen Camilla, William, Kate Middleton and their young family.
This private conversation allegedly infuriated Harry, with tensions escalating until his and Meghan’s wedding day just a few months later, which took place at Windsor Castle on May 19, 2018. Over the years, tension has risen between the Sussexes and the royals.
Since moving to America, Harry has only returned to the UK a few times. His last visit to the UK was in August for a private memorial service for his uncle, Lord Robert Fellowes, who passed away earlier in the summer.
In June 2022, he and Meghan made a joint visit to celebrate the late Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee. They returned just months later to pay their respects following the monarch’s unexpected death in September.
