‘A Better Place’: Jordan Spieth Becomes America’s Fan Favorite Yet Again After Temporary Relief From Brutal Season
Every setback is an opportunity for a comeback. The words surely hold true for Jordan Spieth. After having a brutal season this year, missing the cuts at five events of the seventeen that he participated in, including the Masters, and failing to qualify for the Genesis Invitational, he has finally shown some signs of resurgence. After two rounds of being below the top-40 list at the John Deere Classic, he has found himself in the upper ranks of the leaderboard after a successful third round with an 8-under 63.
On Saturday at the TPC Deere Run, he managed to card six birdies on the front nine, turning in 29, followed by three more on the back nine. What brought his performance slightly down was 409 yards bogey on the par-4 thirteenth hole. Nonetheless, he has managed to climb up to the T12 position, but that is along with Harry Hall, Ben Griffin, and six others. It looks like returning to the John Deere Classic after a nine-year-long might turn out to be just the spark that he needed to recreate his 2015 victory magic.
Golf Digest took to their official Instagram account a few hours ago and posted a picture of Jordan Spieth from the TPC John Deere Course, sharing his outstanding performance. In the caption, congratulating him, they even wrote, “Have a day, Jordan! Jordan Spieth fires a third-round 63 to vault into the top five at the John Deere Classic. ”
Still hopeful to have a great turnout at the ultimate round, the two-time John Deere Classic champion said, “Tomorrow if I can be as solid as I was today and maybe catch a couple extra breaks. It would take something extremely flawless to have a chance, but I’ll try and do what I did today.” Irrespective of whether he can grab the trophy or not, there is one certain thing: many in the golf world are indeed rooting for his victory!

Back in 2015, Jordan Spieth won the Masters, defeating Phil Mickelson, Justin Rose and Rory McIlroy. This win was followed by a victorious feat at the US Open, followed by a second-place finish at the 2015 PGA Championship. He took over the tag from McIlroy, and both of them simultaneously enjoyed the position, pretty much going back and forth for a month until Jason Day took over!
Despite a dismal 2024 campaign, Spieth managed to secure 3 top finishes so far. Currently ranked 32, on the OWGR, one of the fans feels that golf was at its peak when players like Spieth were at the top of the list. They wrote, “The world was a better place when he was on top”.
