Princess Kate’s appearance at Wimbledon leaves country ‘relieved’ at her health progress

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams has shared his “relief” with Express.co.uk as Princess Kate emerged at Wimbledon last Sunday looking happy and radiant in a purple Safiyaa dress.

She was accompanied by her daughter Princess Charlotte and younger sister Pippa Middleton, as Prince William and Prince George headed off to Berlin to see England play in the Euro 2024 final against Spain

As a dedicated tennis fan Kate looked delighted to be back in the Royal Box to see Carlos Alcaraz beat Novak Djokovic to the title for the second year in a row.

She then presented Alcaraz with his trophy as part of her role as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, although it had not been confirmed until the day before that she would be able to do so as she continues to recover from cancer

Mr Fitzwilliams said: “The country and the wider world feel relieved that she is making progress, as she told us in her statement in June.

“There is a realisation, however, as she only attended one of the finals, that she is, as she put it “not out of the woods”. It was however, wonderful to see her look so well and happy and also to see Charlotte as well as her sister Pippa with her.”

He explained further: “It is notable that she is balancing activities with care as she did not attend the Women’s Singles Finals on Saturday.

“As she said in the moving statement she released before Trooping the Colour, there are ups and downs when undergoing preventative chemotherapy.

“She will have been delighted her appearance today was such a success. In her video and statement she has reached out to other sufferers too. Let us hope we see her at another summer event before long.”
