King Charles and Queen Camilla rushed to safety after suspect seen on roof

King Charles and Queen Camilla were rushed to safety after a suspect was spotted on a roof just hours after the assassination attempt on Donald Trump.

Charles, 75, and Camilla, 77, were hurriedly removed from an open air exposition where they were talking to locals.

The monarchs were whisked away to a nearby hotel to take shelter. One witness was talking to the King as it ahppened and said security officers suddenly appeared and told him “he has to go now”.

Security and police saw someone on a roof overlooking Liberation Square in St Helier, Jersey, where the couple were greeting onlookers.

The suspect was challenged by police but fortunately it was found to be just a false alarm.

The security scare on Monday came just days after former president Donald Trump was shot in an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania in the US.

He was shot in the ear and fell to the ground. The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, had fired from a roof before being shot and killed by snipers. He had searched for Princess Kate on his phone before the shooting, according to FBI analysis on his phone, but it is not yet clear why.
