Princess Kate and King Charles receive 27,000 ‘get well soon’ cards from royal fans
King Charles and the Princess of Wales received a total of 27,000 messages from well-wishers around the world after announcing their cancer diagnoses earlier this year, Palace officials have revealed.
Royal fans were quick to encourage the monarch and Princess Kate to “get well soon” after they bravely revealed separately that they had been diagnosed with a form of cancer
Charles shocked the world back in February after Buckingham Palace announced that he had been diagnosed with the illness following an enlarged prostate operation.
While the type of cancer the King has is unknown, it is understood it is not linked to his prostate surgery.
The future Queen appeared in an emotional video in March to say that following a major abdominal surgery in January, post-operative tests found that cancer had been present.
Since then, both King Charles and Princess Kate have been undergoing treatment for their illness, with the monarch now fully back to attending royal engagements and the Princess of Wales recently making her second public appearance – after Trooping the Colour in June – and the Wimbledon finals.
Meanwhile, the Royal Family received a total of 31,000 congratulatory messages for the King’s Coronation last May, amounting to 138,000 items of correspondence for the year 2023-24.
It comes as the royal accounts revealed that profit from the Royal Family’s land and property holdings more than doubled to a record £1.1 billion last year, driven by a short-term boost from offshore wind farms.
The Crown Estate said earnings surged by more than £658 million during the year ending March 31, from £443 million the previous year.
